Best pastrami sandwiches I've had in NJ. I haven't been back to the NYC spot in years since I found Hobby's.
Nice food, friendly and luckily very helpful people so don't be afraid if you know nothing about kosher food.
A relic of an older Newark. Old fashioned Jewish style delicatessen which serves thick meaty sandwiches, fries and all of the usual cholesterol raising fare. Not comparable to classic Jewish delis in Manhattan like Katz or 2nd Ave but far from inferior either. Prices are, however, comparable, a big surprise for Newark. Not for everyday consumption but good for the occasional treat.
Hobby’s Deli is in a league of its own. Its one of the greatest delis in the The NYC Metro area. When you compare Hobby’s, you don’t compare it to your local deli, you compare it to Katz or Harold’s. Great food, great service. You’ll see, it’s iconic.
